Using basketball to boost school performance

Students who love basketball will be given extra incentives to keep up regular attendance and engagement at school, thanks to the launch of Basketball Australia’s No School No Play project today.
Basketball Australia is working with some 30 schools in South Australia, Coffs Harbour, Northern Territory – and now in Western Sydney.

NBA star speaks to Chifley students

Local students across a number of schools in Chifley got some words of encouragement this week from an unexpected quarter – Australian basketballer and NBA player Patrick Mills.
Australia’s first Indigenous player to make it to the US’s NBA League took time out from training for an Olympic qualifier to send a You-Tube video message to students participating in the No School No Play program.
The program – designed to boost attendance, engagement and healthy living – was recently launched at Plumpton High School by Federal MP Ed Husic and Basketball Australia CEO Larry Sengstock.
